Dr. Edward Omete has over 10 years’ experience in the Kenyan health sector, spanning both public and private (non-profit and entrepreneurial scenes).

He is co-founder of HealthinfoK, a health industry data analytics platform providing aggregated investment insights to players in the sector, a health industry analyst and weekly columnist for The Business Daily, East Africa’s largest circulating business newspaper and special advisor at Afza Capital.


For over 9 years, he has been commenting on industry trends, challenges and opportunities.

Dr. Omete holds a B.Sc. (HONS) degree in Medical Physiology and a M.B.Ch.B both from the University of Nairobi as well as training in Healthcare & Hospital Management, digital health entrepreneurship under the World Bank Info Dev program and Health Economics and Policy Planning, with a focus on models for investments in health technologies to optimize quality care.


He is a previous winner of the Open Data for Development Challenge (ODDC 2012) and has a decade long career in global and rural non-profits starting in program implementation and rising through to technical roles. An entrepreneur at heart, he advisory on impact investment in healthcare and is currently IH’s CEO as well as a Special Advisor at Afza Capital and a few other corporate advisory roles.

Edwards passion is impact interventions leveraging data driven decision metrics to solve societal challenges in the digital health space, MNCH, NCD, UHC, WASH, healthcare financing and logistics.
